Digital journalism: How it is supposed to be

I am impressed with how much work the New York Times invested into its digitally enhanced article “Snow Fall”. It’s a good story; a great read (actually a horrendous and tragic one). Tragically, this is the first time i see something like this – nearly twenty years after the internet was born.

A great deal of work was put into this experience. The article is not just plain copy text with a few nice images, but a mix of images, parallax scrolling behavior, videos, background information on people, 3D animations about the terrain and much more. It took me well more than two hours to get through it. And it was actually fun.

So, go read.
Or at least scroll through it just to see how digital journalism is supposed to be.
